Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and technically adept Sales Engineer with a strong background in lighting projects to join our SE-based team. This individual will play a pivotal role in driving sales growth by working closely with architects, consulting engineers, interior designers, and contractors to specify and deliver innovative, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing lighting solutions for commercial and high-end projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders including architects, MEP consultants, interior designers, and main/sub-contractors.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the commercial and high-end residential sectors across London and the Southeast.
- Provide technical and commercial support throughout all project phases - from specification and design consultation through to installation and commissioning.
- Deliver CPD presentations and product demonstrations to specifiers and consultants.
- Collaborate with the design team to produce lighting schemes and proposals that meet client requirements and standards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant lighting technologies, building regulations, and industry trends.
- Prepare and negotiate quotations, tenders, and commercial agreements.
- Manage CRM records, forecast sales activity, and report regularly on pipeline development and project status.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a sales or specification-based role within the lighting industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of lighting systems (including LED, controls, and DALI systems).
- Established network of contacts among architects, consultants, designers, and contractors in the London region.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; confident delivering CPDs and client briefings.
- Commercial acumen with the ability to close sales and manage long project cycles.
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and capable of working autonomously and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required across London and the Southeast.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Lighting Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- Membership of professional bodies such as CIBSE, ILP, or SLL.
- Familiarity with lighting design software (e.g., DIALux, Relux, AutoCAD, Revit).
