Lighting Designer, Retail Lighting Specialist

Hybrid working pattern where two set days per week (Mondays and Fridays) are available for home working.

Established for 65 years, manufacturing indoor and outdoor luminaires and one of the industry leaders in Europe. Target application areas are working spaces, retail, hospitality, architecture, art and culture, residential and urban spaces collaborating on projects with top retail clients, lighting consultants, architects and engineers.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for a motivated and passionate lighting designer who is detail oriented, can demonstrate a strong interest in lighting design, and is excited to be part of a dynamic design team.
As a world leading manufacturer of architectural lighting, our client provides technical and design services to support the specification and use of lighting products in the UK and globally.
You will be responsible for the design, review and delivery of lighting proposals. You will work to specified project deadlines and support the team of Sales Engineers during the sales process. In addition to the design responsibilities, you will also provide technical support to the clients network (lighting designers, architects, engineers, contractors and end users) and to the retail sales team.
The role will enable you to expand your professional horizons beyond the aesthetic aspects of lighting proposals, gaining experience in the technical details of proposed lighting fittings, energy payback, the formulation of budgets and project management.
Essential requirements:
- Ability to read 2D architectural drawings (plans, elevations, sections).
- Proficient with AutoCAD 2D and Dialux or Relux.
- Good knowledge of the physics of light, lighting product design, LED technology and lighting control systems.
- Familiarity with UK standards and regulations for lighting design.
- Available to travel (mainly in the UK for training and project site visits).
Desirable skills:
- Degree in a relevant subject.
- Knowledge of another second language.
- Full clean driving licence.
