You're the kind of person who builds things properly. You don't wait to be told. You assess what's needed, make a plan, and get it done. You understand that in a compliance-driven environment, cutting corners is never an option. You've run a vehicle operator's licence before. You know what good fleet and plant management looks like: the systems, the standards, the discipline it takes to keep everything – and everyone safe and moving. And you're ready to build that from the ground up in a business that's growing. This is a newly created role at a critical point in Alconex's growth. If you want real ownership of a new function, in a team that backs you to lead it, we’d like to start a conversation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Securing the operator's licence for our newly acquired 32t Grab vehicles
  • Scoping and implementing a vehicle and plant management system
  • Running that system day to day once it's live
  • Managing further plant acquisition and management of these as the business continues to grow

In your first 90 days, we'll expect you to:

  • Hit the ground running: get to know the team and understand the business quickly
  • Support the transition of plant management from a procurement function into a standalone team
  • Manage and support the plant manager who currently looks after hire and smaller plant and some transport functions
  • Commence and fulfil the operator's licence process
  • Begin planning system build to milestones

What You'll Bring

You don't need to tick every box — but if this sounds like you, we'd like to talk with you.

  • Experience running a vehicle operator's licence
  • Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
  • Proven experience managing vehicle and plant systems
  • Strong track record of implementing management systems

A bonus if you have:

  • Experience implementing an operator's licence from scratch, not just running one

Who You'll Be Working With

You'll join Alconex Infrastructure & Solutions Ltd, a fully accredited Independent Connections Provider delivering electric, gas, and clean water infrastructure across the UK. Our in-house team covers everything from technical design to on-site delivery. More importantly, we’re a team that backs each other. We put people first; clients and colleagues alike. Why Join Alconex?

  • A newly created role with real scope to shape how the function operates
  • A business that's growing with purpose, not just in size, but in standards
  • A team where autonomy is expected, not earned over years
  • Career development grounded in real stretch, not just courses
  • The chance to work on infrastructure that powers homes, businesses and communities
  • 26 days holiday (increasing to 31 after 5 years)
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
  • Company or salary sacrifice pension (3% employer, 5% employee)
  • Death in Service (4x salary)
  • Health Cash Plan (Benefit in Kind terms apply)
