Our client is an industry leading tech start-up based in Reading. Their exceptional SaaS solution is used internationally for the archiving and preservation of valuable digital assets across a range of industries including life sciences, scientific research, heritage and higher education. Today, the amount of data that organisations are generating is growing exponentially. This means the long-term management and preservation of that data is more important than ever before. This is an incredibly exciting time for our client, as their customers rely on them to ensure the long-term security and accessibility of their data, regardless of volume, variety or complexity.
The client is looking for an experienced Cloud and Operations Engineer to provide creative technical solutions to their product deployment and support of existing infrastructure using DevOps techniques. As a self-motivated Engineer, you would join a dynamic team, supporting a rapidly evolving product. Bringing your excellent Cloud and DevOps knowledge to our client, you’d enable them to respond to the high volume and rapidly changing data management needs of their customers. The role is based out of Reading, with a flexible approach to working with the option to work remotely if desired.
Key Tasks
- Automating and orchestrating the deployment with Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD) techniques
- Troubleshoot production and pre-production environment issues
- Build and configure container technologies for Docker Swarm and Kubernetes
- Help drive Security Practices in all implementations
- Build a great working relationship with team members and the Java based application development teams
- Develop and mentor junior team members
Skills/Experience
Essential
- 5+ years’ experience within IT, including over 2 years in a DevOps capacity
- Experience with either AWS or GCP
- Infrastructure as Code and automation tools Terraform, Helm, and Jenkins
- Production experience of Docker Container technologies
- Experience with using monitoring tools, Prometheus, Alert Manager, Grafana, ELK stack
- Excellent technical and non-technical communication skills
- Able to multitask, prioritise, and manage time efficiently
Desirable
- An understanding of authentication protocols such as Oauth and SAML
- Production experience of using Kubernetes
- Intimate knowledge of the Linux operating system with a focus on CentOS
- Proficient in scripting, and Git and Git workflows (Python and bash scripts)
- Working knowledge of NoSQL and Relational databases technologies such as MongoDB and PostgreSQL
