We have partnered with a prestigious Auction House on their search for a Specialist β Arms and Armour.
Responsibilities
- Sourcing, researching and cataloguing items for Arms and Armour collectors sales.
- The Specialist point of contact for lots pertaining to Arms and Armour, receiving inquiries and frequently communicating with the Consultant in this domain.
- Preparing property details for meetings to ascertain value and condition and make any necessary amendments.
- Investigating the origin of items for assessment and those consigned to sale, consulting with experts and advisors regarding authenticity and auction/insurance values.
- Writing essays, footnotes for the catalogue, and proposal entries.
- Assisting with press calls, arranging gallery setup for Arms and Armour sales, attending auction previews and weekend views, placing phone bids on sale days.
- Coordinating with in-house photographers on the photography of sale objects.
- Preparing condition reports ahead of the catalogue's online launch and sending them directly to clients.
- Effectively responding to client inquiries via phone, in person, and email.
- Arranging insurance valuations and providing reports and research to the relevant Specialist.
- Prospective UK business acquisition or valuation assignments.
- Working with the marketing manager to coordinate marketing for the Arms and Armour sale.
- Assisting with catalogue management, including photo research, sourcing images, proofing, catalogue design, lotting up the sale, and ensuring that special terms in proposals are honoured; being aware of catalogue legalities, such as lot symbol and copyright.
- Development of the social media account.
- Creating customised target emails to promote upcoming auctions and particular lots.
- Nurturing current relationships and forming new ones with clients.
- Helping with shipping coordination and shipping quotes in cooperation with the Administrator.
- Helping the Administrator with stock management, monitoring consignments and dispatches both before and after the sale.
- Keeping files and documents organised for clients, sales, and outside consultants.
- Maintaining library and reference materials.
- General administrative duties to maintain the department's efficiency.
- Develop Specialist skills according to Senior department members' advice and guidance.
Skills Required
- At least 3 years of experience with an Auction House.
- A Bachelor's or Master's Degree.
- Demonstrated interest in Arms and Armour as collectibles, with a passion for the field and an unwavering ambition to become a valuable contributor to the specialised team.
- The highest discretion for upcoming projects, celebrity clients, artist management, and VIPs both internally and externally.
- Experience with social media.
- Excellent time management and organisation skills.
- Computer skills.
