Alchemy is opening a brand-new children's residential home in Fishguard, and we’re looking for compassionate, resilient, and motivated Residential Support Workers to join our team. Our mission is to provide a nurturing, stable home for young people who require high levels of support due to complex needs, often rooted in early trauma. We’re dedicated to working with some of the most vulnerable young people — those who may present with behaviours that challenge — helping them feel safe, build resilience, and move forward positively with their lives.

What You’ll Do

  • Build trusting, positive relationships with young people
  • Support daily routines, education, and personal development
  • Encourage independence and emotional growth
  • Manage challenging situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Work closely with our in-house Behaviour Analyst, Psychology, and Therapy team to ensure consistent, trauma-informed support

What We Offer

  • £33,000 annual salary
  • 2 days on / 4 days off shift pattern for excellent work-life balance
  • Comprehensive induction and continuous professional development
  • Core training: Positive Behaviour Support, Restrictive Practice, Safeguarding
  • Specialist training: Self-harm & Suicide Prevention, Mental Health First Aid, De-escalation, and Trauma-Informed Practice
  • Regular supervision and wellbeing support from experienced managers and clinicians
  • Genuine opportunities for progression — we promote from within wherever possible

About You

Previous experience in children's residential care is desirable but not essential — we will provide full, high-quality training. We’re looking for people who are:

  • Caring, patient, and emotionally resilient
  • Passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential
  • Able to stay calm under pressure and work effectively as part of a supportive team
  • Able to work a rolling rota of 2 days on / 4 days off (full day + sleep-in, full day + sleep-in, then four days off)

Essential Criteria

  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude
  • Compassionate and caring nature
  • Honest, reliable, and trustworthy
  • Emotionally resilient and adaptable

Desirable Criteria

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Level 3 Diploma in Children & Young People (or working towards)
  • Experience of working with young people who display challenging behaviour
