You will be assisting in a variety of activities from ER cases to recruitment, onboarding and policy support. This role is the perfect opportunity for someone to be exposed to a breadth of strategic and day‑to‑day HR activities.
Purpose of Job
- Provide a combination of strategic and operational HR and employment law advice and guidance.
- Play a coaching role with business owners and managers on their HR issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Employment Law and HR advice to clients to enable compliance in all areas of employment policy and legislation, including disciplinary, grievance, restructure, redundancy, performance, and sickness absence management.
- Produce step‑by‑step advice and guidance along with all necessary letters and/or documentation.
- Develop employee relations plans, policies and practices for clients, ensuring they are legally compliant and support their business goals.
- Manage employee relations cases, advise on resolution, undertake or support investigations as appropriate, and facilitate formal proceedings.
- Support clients in making operational efficiency improvements, developing commercially and legally sound business cases and strategies.
- Coach clients in understanding and complying with ER policies and practices, ensuring employment disputes are avoided or minimised.
- Foster constructive relationships with clients, partners and associates, including Unions, Acas and referral partners.
Key Personal Requirements
- Member of the CIPD, Level 5 or higher.
- Ability to lead and influence others in the organisation and among clients.
- Specialised knowledge in a full generalist HR role.
- Strong, up‑to‑date employment law knowledge.
- Knowledge of HR systems and databases.
- Experience developing people strategy in a forward‑thinking organisation.
- Passion for excellent customer service.
- Proactive in identifying and meeting client needs.
- Understanding of the needs of small and medium business owners/managers.
- Commercial acumen.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work without supervision.
- Excellent communication, effective collaboration and relationship‑building across all levels.
- Ability to make timely, informed decisions and recognise when to escalate issues.
- Takes initiative, practices good judgement.
- Adaptable to changing circumstances and capable of developing creative solutions while building consensus among functional groups.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: c£35,000 – £40,000 per annum.
- Holiday: 20 days plus bank holidays, plus Christmas week off.
- Hours: Flexible approach to Monday – Friday (typically 09:00 – 17:00) with no out‑of‑hours work beyond the working week.
