We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Manager to join their senior leadership team based in St Helens. The goal of the position is to continue developing the sites engineering department, with focus on the development of the team and continuous improvements and efficiencies. The current engineering team have done brilliantly and the sites reliability/OEE etc. is already in a very good place, this role is not a ‘come in and save us’ role, this is a chance to focus on continuing the improvements and to further push towards a WCM facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure (in conjunction with the Plant Manager and site SHE Manager) that all engineering work is designed, procured and delivered in a safe, controlled and lawful manner, compliant with all relevant legislation.
- Fully support and comply with company HSE and Quality Policies.
- Develop and implement a maintenance strategy that meets the needs of business through measurement and analysis of the sites performance, in conjunction with manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Ensuring the operational delivery of the engineering budget and reporting against established KPI’s.
- Identifying, providing and facilitating solutions to engineering and technical problems.
- Managing the periodic shutdown of plant equipment liaising and controlling contractors and sub-contractors and procurement of spares and materials.
- Ensuring equipment is delivered on time and to budget, and ensuring remedial strategies are developed when shortfalls are identified.
- Developing and managing the technical practice and standards of the Company.
- Ensuring the retention and adherence to accredited standards.
- Ensuring compliance with engineering legislation (e.g. LOLER, Legionella, Pressure Vessels, Fixed Installation Testing, PAT, F gas, Gas regs).
- Developing technical capability within the team.
- Taking responsibility for managing revenue and capital projects as and when required.
The Candidate
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or equivalent in an engineering or technical discipline (Electrical bias will be highly advantageous).
- Proven experience within a high hazardous environment, furnace lead production and at a senior engineering level.
- Strong leadership ability with a strong mentor/coaching approach.
- An electrical bias engineering foundation would be highly advantageous.
- An advocate for strong HSE/Compliance in every aspect of the role.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from production and maintenance employees.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
