The predicted salary is between 31650 - 43607 £ per year.

Full time FTE 1.0 required from 01 September 2026 to 31 August 2027.

The Department:

  • All members of the department teach across the full age range, where possible.
  • At KS3, years 7, 8 and 9 are taught PE in mixed gender groups and a further lesson as single sex.
  • Members of staff are expected to deliver all sports/disciplines, including dance where applicable.
  • In KS4, students are given responsibility over their activities whilst being advised to select a well-balanced programme.
  • In KS5, students in year 12 must attend a minimum of one hour per week and year 13 are encouraged to attend.
  • For Sixth Formers, there is a choice between ‘Performance’ and ‘Recreation’ options with activities including rowing, zumba, basketball, rugby, netball, football, yoga, volleyball and much more.

Facilities include:

  • A sports hall
  • A gym/dance studio
  • A well-equipped fitness room
  • Playing fields about 250 metres from the main school buildings
  • A 400 metre athletics track, long jump pit and ample space for all other field events
  • Five rounders and two softball pitches
  • Five tarmac tennis courts, one outside basketball court and four netball courts

The school offers OCR GCSE and A level PE to a large number of students.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications: QTS and a good honours degree in a related subject (ECTs are welcome)
  • Experience: Ability to teach Core PE across KS3-5. The ability to teach GCSE and A level would be an advantage, but is not essential.
  • Relationships: A commitment to students as individuals, a sensitive attitude to students of all abilities and ages, and the ability to differentiate teaching to meet the needs of the most able and those with Special Educational needs.
  • Personal Characteristics: A commitment to the AGS ethos, a willingness to continue learning and developing as a teacher, a reflective approach to their own practice, hard working and adaptable, friendly and approachable, well organised and able to meet deadlines, demonstrate a passion for the subject and an ability to enthuse students of all ages, a commitment to safeguarding children’s well being, and a commitment to playing a part in the wider life of the school.
