With a portfolio covering a range of construction sectors, Alcema are now looking to expand our multifaceted team with a project quantity surveyor. We are looking for a result driven Quantity Surveyor with experience in Principal Contracting. The role is ideal for a person with the aptitude for learning and an eye for detail. You should also have great team working ethics. The role has the potential for progression opportunities within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting directly to the Senior Management Team.
  • Providing comprehensive management and control of project costs and contracts.
  • Drive improvements to the commercial performance of a project and input new ideas that could result in better ways of working.
  • Achieve optimum cash flow and project profit levels.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Is able to provide commercial input by way of advice and suggestions on implementing cost savings at all times and represent the company in a professional and proactive manner in all dealings with those associated with, and affected by, the building project.
  • Is responsible for procurement of all packages some high risk.
  • Is in possession of a relevant professional qualification (e.g. BSc Quantity Surveying – RICS or CIOB accredited) and with at least 4+ years’ experience working as a QS within the UK construction/infrastructure sector, and with demonstrable experience.
  • Experienced in managing project risks, maximising commercial opportunities and budget management.
  • Experienced in measuring and valuing subcontractor accounts on a weekly/monthly basis.
  • Understands and adheres to complex regulations and procedures and to effectively assimilate procedural and technical detail.
  • Can use IT systems (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project), with knowledge of contract administration, JCT forms of contract including Design and Build, Intermediate and Minor Works.
  • An understanding of NEC contracts would be advantageous.
  • Has an in-depth knowledge of Standard Method of Measurement and Codes of Procedure for Quantity Surveying Practice.
  • Can thoroughly understand and work to the project’s requirements alongside maintaining working partnerships and relationships.
