Albus Arts & Design is a Singapore-based art education studio dedicated to nurturing the next generation of creative thinkers and designers. We specialise in portfolio preparation for top global art schools as well as exploratory art programs for younger students, offering a unique, studio-based learning environment across disciplines such as fashion, architecture, product design, and fine art.
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Full-Time Fashion Teacher to join our team. This role involves working closely with both portfolio-level students (ages 14–18) and junior learners (ages 7–12), guiding them through creative exploration as well as structured project development. You will play a key role in shaping students’ creative journeys—from foundational skills to developing strong, concept-driven fashion portfolios for university applications.
Key Responsibilities- Portfolio Teaching (Senior Students)
- Guide students in developing fashion design portfolios for applications to top art and design universities (UK/US/SG).
- Support students through:
- Concept development & research
- Moodboards & visual storytelling
- Fashion illustration & technical drawing
- Textile experimentation & material exploration
- Garment construction (basic to intermediate)
- Provide individualised mentorship, helping students develop their own creative voice.
- Track student progress and prepare them for portfolio reviews and submissions.
- Teach structured fashion exploratory classes in small group settings (max ~6 students).
- Deliver engaging lessons such as:
- Fashion collage & moodboard creation
- Basic sewing techniques
- Fabric manipulation (dyeing, weaving, texture creation)
- Creative embroidery
- Intro to fashion illustration
- Prepare lesson plans and teaching materials aligned with Albus curriculum.
- Contribute to curriculum development, especially for fashion-related programs.
- Ensure lessons are structured, creative, and outcome-driven.
- Provide feedback and progress updates to students and parents.
- Support students outside class with guidance on homework and project development.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and care in student interactions.
- Assist in workshops, holiday programs, and short courses (e.g. summer camps).
- Support open houses, exhibitions, and student showcases when needed.
- Contribute to maintaining a creative, studio-based learning culture.
- Skills & Experience
- Background in Fashion Design / Textile Design / Related Field.
- Experience in:
- Fashion illustration
- Textile techniques (embroidery, dyeing, manipulation, etc.)
- Basic garment construction
- Prior teaching experience preferred (especially with children or teens).
- Passionate about art education and mentoring young creatives.
- Strong sense of aesthetics, creativity, and concept development.
- Patient, responsible, and engaging with students of different age groups.
- Able to balance structure (portfolio teaching) and playfulness (junior classes).
- Experience preparing students for: Parsons School of Design, University of the Arts London, Pratt Institute etc.
- Familiarity with portfolio requirements for international art schools.
- Experience with digital tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Procreate).
