As a Hedge Fund IDD Associate Analyst, specialising on Credit Long/Short and Distressed Strategies, you will provide support for manager selection, investment due diligence and related Hedge Fund services; assist colleagues in the production of the same; and contribute to the development of Albourne’s Hedge Fund Initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Hedge Fund IDD Senior Analyst and other colleagues in maintaining and expanding Albourne’s coverage of Hedge Fund Credit offerings.
  • Produce written research reports based on qualitative and quantitative analysis, incorporating meetings with managers, site visits, documentation and performance reviews, and reference checks.
  • Initiate new research and ratings on Hedge Fund credit offerings, and assist with ongoing monitoring to ensure accuracy of existing ratings.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring of Open Protocol reports of IDD funds, commenting on breaches in a timely manner.
  • Develop and monitor peer groups, draft internal meeting notes, coordinate diligence call schedules, and ensure the predefined research process is adhered to.
  • Coordinate with other functions covering related strategies to share information and improve the quality of HF IDD and other reports.
  • Assist clients in accessing managers by helping build relationships between Albourne, the client and covered managers.
  • Strategy Analysis and Communication:
    • Assist in the periodic production of strategy comments and forecasts for Hedge Fund Credit strategies.
    • Support production and maintenance of research such as white papers, CIO notes and ATV on the extranet.
    • Identify additional tools or analytics to enhance rating accuracy and communication.
    • Communicate Albourne’s house opinions on the strategy or fund to clients via phone or email, and respond to follow‑up requests.
  • Maintain the internal database (HFDB) with up‑to‑date information, including relevant emails and records of meetings and calls.
  • Meet deadlines imposed by management and clients, communicating any delays and timing expectations.
  • Participate in internal group calls to transfer knowledge of HF within the group.
  • Support business development activities, including involvement in client marketing and portfolio construction as needed.
  • Take on other ad‑hoc projects as requested by the Head of Hedge Fund IDD or the daily line manager.
  • Support Albourne initiatives such as OP, ATR, LinkedIn, IRQ.
  • Represent Albourne well and act as an ambassador at industry events.
  • Report potential conflicts to compliance and work with compliance to ensure that conflict disclosures appear on written research reports.

Key Requirements

  • University graduate or equivalent.
  • Some relevant prior work experience with knowledge or experience of Hedge Funds.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • (Optional) Possession of or advanced progression towards relevant professional qualifications (CFA, CAIA, CPA).
  • Proactive self‑starter with proficient time management and multi‑tasking.
  • Professional demeanour and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Systems literacy (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Frequent travel.
