Albion Rye Associates are delighted to be partnering with one of the most innovative and reputable consultancies, placing ethics and morals above all else, serving the global life sciences sector, as they look to appoint a Business Development Specialist to support a product expansion focused on specialised scientific conference management solutions across pharmaceutical and biotech customers. This is an exceptional opportunity for a commercially driven life sciences professional who understands the importance of scientific congresses and the unique challenges associated with planning, navigating, and analysing them.

In this role, you will drive adoption of a platform that enables medical affairs, competitive intelligence, publications and commercial teams to maximise insight generation, congress impact, and competitive readiness at global scientific meetings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategies to acquire and grow pharmaceutical and biotech accounts that rely heavily on scientific congress participation to drive competitive insight and medical education initiatives.
  • Lead the full sales process including needs assessment, product demonstrations, value articulation, multi-stakeholder alignment, proposal development, negotiation, and close.
  • Communicate the value of structured conference management solutions across distinct life sciences functions including CI, medical affairs, publications, commercial, field medical, and portfolio strategy.
  • Drive adoption around key conference workflows, including pre-conference strategic planning, abstract tracking, agenda construction, session and competitor monitoring, scientific data capture, and post-meeting reporting.
  • Evangelise the role of congresses as strategic milestones for competitor intelligence, scientific positioning, and KOL engagement, reinforcing the ROI case for software-enabled workflows.
  • Attend relevant scientific conferences to network with target buyers, demo solutions, and gather real-time market intelligence on trends, unmet needs, and evolving scientific priorities.
  • Maintain accurate forecasting, pipeline reporting, and CRM discipline to support commercial visibility, strategic planning, and predictable revenue performance.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • 2+ years' experience in business development, partnerships, or commercial roles selling into pharmaceutical or biotech organisations; experience in SaaS, data, or scientific intelligence strongly preferred.
  • Master's degree in a life sciences, healthcare, or business discipline.
  • Familiarity with scientific conference dynamics, including abstracts, KOL engagement, competitive monitoring, and post-congress insight generation.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex B2B enterprise sales cycles and selling to cross-functional stakeholders in matrixed organisations.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate in a scaling environment with high growth potential and evolving processes.

This is a rare opportunity to join a company that is redefining scientific conference management for life sciences organisations driving greater scientific visibility, faster insight generation, and more strategic competitive positioning. If you are motivated to shape adoption of a software category that sits at the intersection of science, strategy, and competitive intelligence, I would love to hear from you.
