A friendly and well-established independent medical communications agency based in Oxford is looking for a talented Account Manager to join their growing team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality medical communications projects for pharmaceutical clients, managing multiple work-streams and building strong relationships with both clients and internal teams.

The Role

  • Overseeing the successful delivery of projects from brief through to completion, ensuring work is delivered on time, on brief, and within budget.
  • Collaborating closely with internal teams including scientific, creative and digital colleagues, while maintaining strong day-to-day relationships with clients.
  • Supporting junior team members, contributing to new business opportunities, and helping ensure projects run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure clear briefs are received from clients and effectively communicated to internal teams.
  • Manage projects to ensure delivery on brief, within scope and within budget.
  • Coordinate and manage multiple projects of varying complexity.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee and support junior colleagues on materials and project delivery.
  • Brief and review freelance design and digital work to ensure client-ready output.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance procedures, GDPR and pharmaceutical codes of practice (e.g. ABPI).
  • Lead client calls and maintain project status updates, schedules and meeting summaries.
  • Support with budget management, forecasting and financial tracking.
  • Ensure projects are reconciled and invoiced accurately and on time.
  • Contribute to new business pitches, proposals and research.
  • Support and mentor junior team members, including AEs and graduate AEs.
  • Contribute to internal brainstorms and identify opportunities for organic client growth.

About You

  • 2–3+ years’ experience in an account management role within medical communications.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused.
  • Confident managing client relationships.
  • Comfortable working across multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ideally educated to degree level (a scientific degree such as BSc is advantageous).
