An established and growing façade specialist is looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to strengthen its pre-construction team. The business operates across two core areas: delivering complex new-build façade packages for Tier 1 Main Contractors, alongside recladding and façade remediation projects where they operate as Principal Contractor. With a strong pipeline of opportunities and ambitious plans for continued growth, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced façade Estimator to play a key role in securing new projects and supporting the business through pre-construction.
The Role
As Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and commercially competitive tenders across a range of façade, cladding and remediation projects. You will work closely with the Directors, Pre-Construction, Design and Commercial teams, taking opportunities from initial enquiry through tender submission, negotiation and eventual handover to the delivery team.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing detailed estimates and tenders for façade, cladding and remediation projects
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, tender documents and employer's requirements
- Carrying out detailed take-offs and preparing bills of quantities
- Obtaining and analysing quotations from suppliers and specialist subcontractors
- Building up labour, material, plant and subcontract costs
- Identifying commercial and technical risks within tender documentation
- Preparing tender clarifications, exclusions and qualifications
- Identifying value-engineering opportunities and alternative façade solutions
- Working closely with external designers, consultants and the internal design team during pre-construction
- Supporting tender interviews and commercial negotiations with clients
- Developing strong relationships with Tier 1 Main Contractors, developers and key supply-chain partners
- Assisting with procurement strategy and project handover following successful tenders
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of façade systems, materials and market pricing
- Reporting directly to the Director and senior management team
Experience Required
The successful candidate must have estimating experience within the façade, cladding or specialist building-envelope sector and a strong understanding of façade systems and their associated costs. You will ideally have experience estimating packages incorporating rainscreen cladding, curtain walling, SFS, windows and associated external envelope systems. Experience tendering new-build façade packages for Tier 1 Main Contractors would be particularly relevant, alongside exposure to recladding and façade remediation schemes. You should be commercially aware, technically strong and comfortable taking ownership of tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission and negotiation. The business is looking for someone who can do more than simply price from a set of drawings – you should be able to understand the technical requirements of a project, identify risk, challenge specifications and contribute commercially during the pre-construction process.
What's on Offer
£65,000 – £75,000 + Package Hybrid Working. This is an opportunity to join an established façade specialist with a strong reputation, growing pipeline and exposure to both the new-build and façade remediation markets. There is also genuine scope for progression as the business expands, with the opportunity to take on greater responsibility within the estimating and pre-construction function.
