Job Summary
Seabird is recruiting for a chef to join our team across our two sites in Ramsgate and Margate. This will be a small team and the successful candidate should expect to be working on their own for a significant amount of time. This role would be a great opportunity for a junior chef looking to move into their first senior role, or for a more experienced chef looking for a new challenge. We will be open to part-time or full-time candidates for this role.

We will be serving a range of dishes with a focus on seasonal small plates (across both sites) and brunch (in Margate). We are looking for someone who can be flexible and cover shifts across both sites.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook dishes according to the menu and customer preferences.
• Oversee all aspects of food preparation, ensuring adherence to food safety regulations and standards.
• Work with the directors and executive chef to introduce new dishes and menus.
• Manage inventory and order supplies as needed to maintain efficient kitchen operations.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Monitor portion control and presentation of dishes to ensure consistency and quality.
• Assist in menu planning and pricing strategies to optimise profitability while maintaining quality.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Chef in a restaurant, cafe or simialr environment
• Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, culinary arts, and food safety standards.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
• Passion for hospitality and commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong organisational skills with the capability to multitask effectively in a busy kitchen setting.
• A relevant culinary qualification is desirable but not essential; practical experience is highly valued.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £12.21-£17.00 per hour
