As Junior Sous Chef, you'll work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to help build a kitchen that's organised, supportive, and proud of what it delivers. This is a hands-on role in a busy environment, ideal for a strong Chef de Partie or experienced junior chef ready to take the next step in their career. We're looking for someone passionate about fresh food, committed to high standards, and motivated to grow within a collaborative team.

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting the day-to-day running of kitchen operations
  • Assisting the Head Chef and Sous Chef during service
  • Helping maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency
  • Contributing to seasonal menus, specials, and new ideas
  • Supporting and encouraging junior chefs within the brigade
  • Helping ensure excellent food hygiene, health, safety, and cleanliness standards
  • Assisting with stock control, prep organisation, and minimising waste
  • Playing a key role in delivering smooth, efficient service during busy periods

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef in a busy kitchen
  • NVQ Level 2 Food Production (or equivalent)
  • Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
  • A genuine passion for food, produce, and hospitality
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
  • A positive, team-focused attitude
  • Flexibility to work across varying shifts and service times
  • Good understanding of kitchen operations, health & safety, and food standards
  • Confidence supporting and motivating junior team members
  • Basic computer literacy and administrative awareness

Desirable but not essential:

  • Advanced Food Safety or Health & Safety qualification
  • Experience in high-volume or hotel kitchen environments
