We are seeking an experienced Major & Complex Loss Claims Handler to join a high-performing, specialist claims team. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of high-value, technically complex third-party claims while working within a forward-thinking, supportive, and fully remote environment.
You will manage a diverse portfolio of significant loss cases from initial instruction through to resolution, exercising a high degree of autonomy while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve commercially sound outcomes. This position is ideal for a seasoned claims professional who thrives on complex decision-making, strategic negotiation, and delivering excellent client outcomes on high-value matters.
Key Responsibilities- Managing a caseload of Major and Complex Loss claims, typically £100,000+, from inception to settlement
- Handling claims across one or more of the following areas: PI, PL, EL, Credit Hire, Property Damage, or other third-party losses
- Proactively investigating liability, quantum, and causation on complex claims
- Instructing and managing panel solicitors, experts, and other third parties
- Applying in-depth knowledge of case law, Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), and pre-action protocols
- Developing and executing effective claim strategies to control indemnity spend and litigation risk
- Leading negotiations on high-value settlements and alternative dispute resolution
- Producing clear, accurate technical reports and reserving recommendations
- Acting as a technical referral point and mentoring junior team members where required
- Building strong relationships with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders
- Substantial experience in third-party claims handling, gained within insurance, legal practice, or claims management
- Proven expertise handling major and complex loss claims, ideally exceeding £100k in value
- Strong technical knowledge across PI, PL, EL, Credit Hire, Property Damage, or multi-discipline claims
- Excellent understanding of CPR, litigation processes, and current case law
- Confident decision-maker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Highly skilled negotiator with the ability to manage sensitive, high-exposure claims
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities
- Self-motivated, organised, and comfortable working within a fully remote model
