Are you a seasoned insurance operations leader with a passion for driving efficiency and innovation? My client is a top performing Insurer – seeking an innovative Head of Operations to join a global insurance client of ours. In this pivotal role, you will oversee critical operational functions, ensuring smooth and effective execution across underwriting, business systems, vendor management, and more. You will be a key player in shaping operational strategies, enhancing performance, and maintaining regulatory compliance across the organisation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Underwriting Management: Ensure robust controls and reporting are in place to meet regulatory standards. Continuously monitor and enforce adherence to these controls.
  • Oversee the Underwriting function, providing essential administrative and operational support to the underwriting team, ensuring efficiency in all processes.
  • Standardisation of Underwriting Processes & Systems: Implement standardised processes and systems across underwriting teams to create synergies and operational efficiencies.
  • Binding Authority Management: Manage DUA team to ensure the effective execution of binding authority agreements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and act on opportunities for operational improvement and innovation. Lead by example and foster a culture of continuous improvement within your team.
  • Business Systems & Applications: Serve as the main liaison with Technical Services to ensure smooth and consistent delivery of business systems and application services.
  • Vendor Management & Outsourcing Framework: Manage day-to-day vendor relationships and develop a strategic framework for outsourcing. Work with the Corporate Procurement function on negotiating new contracts.
  • Operational Resilience: Ensure the business maintains robust, resilient operations, focusing on cyber resilience and third-party risk management.
  • Operational & Regulatory Requirements: Address other ad hoc tasks related to underwriting and business operations as needed as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and that company policies and procedures are up to date and align with best practices.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in a Lloyd’s Market operations leadership role, ideally in underwriting or insurance operations.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting processes, controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent leadership skills with a track record of driving operational efficiencies and process improvements.
  • Expertise in vendor management, outsourcing, and contract negotiation.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technical and business units.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
