Due to increased global growth, we are seeking for an Air Freight Coordinator to be part of our Air Freight team with our London Heathrow Office based in Slough of ALPI UK Ltd.You will coordinate Air Freight activities for Alpi UK.Office Hours: Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5.30pm – (inclusive of one-hour unpaid lunch). This role is office based.Salary Range: £26,500 - £30,000 per annum (dependent upon experience)Key Roles and ResponsibilitiesThe ability to co-ordinate with network partners, UK clients and/or internal teams to arrange a booking to be shipped from origin to destination country, maintaining clear and effective communication at all timesEnsuring all shipments adhere to international trade regulations, customs procedures, and control lawsBasic understanding of INCOTERMS and the risk and liabilities of each termTo quote shipments prior to movement and applying agree rates where necessaryBuilding relationships with Airlines for cargo bookings and rate negotiationsTo liaise with partners to reach out for quotes and ratesFamiliarity with various export documents and their purposeEnsure all air jobs are completed correctly and in a timely mannerEnsure all customs declaration tasks are completed correctly and in a timely mannerHas the ability to follow instruction and produce Airway Bill pre-alerts, ensuring accuracy in preparation to avoid critical delays or penaltiesMonitoring the progress of shipments from origin to destination, providing updates to destination partnersUnderstanding of HMRC Volumes 1 & 3 of the UK trade TariffReport immediately to the line manager any amendments to customs declarationsEnsure the operational system is always used correctlyAssist other department as and when required by the companyProvide support and holiday coverage for the local staff when requiredMaintain regular communications with the network and sales teamLook and propose new efficiencies in customer workflowLiaise with HMRC and maintenance of customs proceduresEnsure all reports are completed as per provided deadlineEnsure the SOPs are followed completely and accuratelyLook and propose new efficiencies in customer work flowEnsure that all goods under Alpi’s deferment account are approved for delivery with accounts or line manager or an agreement must be place on SOP or quotesPassing invoices from suppliers and providers within 48 hours from receiptEnsure Insurance is charged correctlyEnsure insurance claims are given to the claims department immediatelyPropose and report to Line Manager; strategies related to the Air productsSkills, Experience and CompetenciesProven experience, gained ideally within the Freight Forwarding sector with a minimum of 3 years experienceKnowledge and experience of Import and/or Export multimodal businessKnowledge/skills required for Air Freight sales and productsDemonstrate quality communication skills along with good presentation skillsProficient with Microsoft packages especially Ms Excel and general PC knowledgeGood understanding of logistics processes and proceduresMust be able to prioritise and organise own workload with attention to detailAble to work independently and as part of a teamMust be flexible with their working hoursBenefits that support youWorking at ALPI UK comes with a range of benefits designed to support your wellbeing, financial future and life outside of work, including:20 days' annual leave plus bank holidaysLoyalty holiday scheme, awarding 1 additional day's annual leave for each completed year of service, up to a maximum of 5 additional daysMilestone Day, an additional paid day off to celebrate a meaningful personal occasion of your choiceEnhanced pension contributions, increasing to a 9% employer contribution after 1 year's serviceFree annual pension and investment review with our independent financial adviserDeath in Service benefit equivalent to 3 times your annual salary after 6 months' servicePrivate Medical Insurance after 1 year's service (subject to application and scheme eligibility)Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for you and eligible family membersAccess to our employee discounts and benefits platformAbout UsALPI UK is part of the Albini & Pitigliani Group, an international freight forwarding and logistics organisation with a history spanning more than 80 years.
