Your Opportunity:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will be primarily working in large immunization Influenza and seasonal immunization clinics within the South Zone. Your primary responsibility will be to administer Influenza, COVID-19, and other seasonal vaccine to all client populations in a safe manner. As a Community Health Nurse you will be a vital resource in the clinic regarding practice standards, processes, skills and competencies. You will have the opportunity to provide guidance, education, support and consultation. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
You have experience working in a health care setting. Lift/carry supplies up to a minimum of 30 lbs. Ability to raise arms to shoulder height in a repetitive movement and fine motor hand coordination required for immunization. Ability to bend, twist, kneel and respond safely and quickly to a variety of emergency situations. Independently perform the skills of a certified BLS provider. Sit, stand for a minimum of 30 minutes. Work within outreach sites that have no consistent ergonomic setup. Effective and efficient time management. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse clients from various cultures, ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. Proficient computer and keyboarding skills. Demonstrate culturally competent care. Conduct contemporaneous electronic documentation at the point of care. Self-directed and able to exercise critical thinking and independent nursing judgement in a fast-paced stressful environment. Able to make critical decisions and respond safely and quickly to situations/settings (e.g., anaphylaxis, frequent faints, post-partum depression screening, emergency response).
Preferred Qualifications:
You have experience and training working with clients from diverse cultures across the lifespan. Multi-language competence is an asset. Recent experience (within the past six months) in Public Health Nursing, including administering provincially funded immunizations according to routine and non-routine schedules outlined in the Immunization Program Standards Manual. Experience working in Connect Care Clinical Information System.
