Grow your career as a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) while enjoying a work-life balance in rural Alberta. This is a multi-site position based out of the Radway Continuing Care Centre, providing services at the Redwater Healthcare Centre, Radway Continuing Care Centre, and Smoky Lake Healthcare Centre. This role is an integral member of our supportive interdisciplinary rehabilitation team.
Your days will be busy as you work to the full scope of practice of a SLP with clients who have various needs. You will assess, create care plans, and treat using evidence-based practices, making a difference in the lives of your clients. Services are provided across the age spectrum, offering a wonderful opportunity to grow your skills in generalist practice.
You will possess an understanding of how patients and families are at the centre of care strategies to build inclusive environments that reflect the needs and supports required for the populations we serve. Rural Alberta is beautiful, peaceful, and provides a great backdrop for a fulfilling career.
As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will provide clinical professional practice both independently and as part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners. Responsibilities include:
- Providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management.
- Participating in the planning, coordination, and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals, and other partners.
- Supervising students and providing clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate.
- Using clinical expertise to inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).
- Certification in Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider from the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- New grads are welcome to apply, though one year of experience in a rural setting is preferred.
- Experience/training with preschool populations and working in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Generalist experience/training with dysphagia, childhood apraxia of speech, stuttering, and voice and resonance is an asset.
