Albert Rees Ltd — home of Carmarthen Ham, the original PGI-protected Welsh air-dried ham — is recruiting an additional Deli & Butchery Counter Assistant due to continued growth at our Cambrian Way shop. Since opening, the response from customers has been exceptional. The shop is consistently busy, and we are looking for someone confident, proactive and comfortable working at pace in a customer-focused retail environment.

This is a fully front-of-house role serving across the entire shop — including deli produce, cheese, charcuterie and our artisan butchery counter. We are looking for someone who can step into a busy counter environment and take ownership of their section.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve customers confidently across deli and butchery counters
  • Weigh, pack and label products accurately
  • Deliver knowledgeable, friendly and efficient customer service
  • Maintain high standards of presentation across counters and displays
  • Follow strict hygiene and food safety procedures
  • Work proactively to keep the shop organised and running smoothly during busy periods
Requirements:
  • Confident and articulate with customers
  • Comfortable handling both raw and ready-to-eat food products
  • Experience in a busy retail, café or hospitality environment
  • Able to work calmly and efficiently during peak trading periods
  • A self-starter who uses initiative without constant supervision
  • Reliable, punctual and well presented
  • Available to work Saturdays
  • Welsh speaking a bonus, but not essential
