Private Client Tax Manager β Compliance & Advisory
The role
We are looking for a manager to join our Private Client Tax team in either Bristol or Taunton. In this role you will manage a varied client portfolio, review complex returns and assist with advisory work: the business sale, the property disposal, the inheritance tax and succession planning. We aim to shape the balance and variety around your strengths and interests, as well as where you want to take your career.
Our clients are the reason the work stays interesting: owner managed businesses, landed estates, professionals, high net worth individuals and families, trusts and estates β many of them are relationships that the firm has held for generations.
As a manager, you will have an important role in a friendly, experienced and genuinely supportive team. You will work closely with partners, directors and colleagues across the firm, and play a real part in shaping how our private client tax offering continues to grow, whilst helping develop those around you.
What you'll be doing
- Acting as main point of contact for a varied portfolio of private clients and manage the service they receive
- Assisting with delivering income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax advice on business exits, share transactions, property disposals, succession and estate planning
- Reviewing self-assessment tax returns; overseeing the compliance cycle for your portfolio, with a strong team handling the routine work
- Preparing and reviewing technical tax reports and written advisory work for clients
- Managing HMRC enquiries and disclosures
- Mentoring and supporting ATT and CTA trainees, as well as newly qualified staff
- Advising clients of partners and directors outside of tax, where specialist input is needed
- Business development, including some networking, meeting prospective clients and writing for client publications
- Working alongside colleagues in our audit, business services, farms and estates and financial planning teams to give clients joined up advice
What we need from you
You will:
- Be CTA qualified and/or ACA/ACCA qualified, with strong personal tax experience
- Have experience at a similar level within private client or personal tax
- Be experienced in training and developing others, demonstrating a collaborative approach
- Have excellent people skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships with clients, as well as offer outstanding service
- Be self-motivated with a strong work ethic
If your experience isn't a complete match but you feel you could bring a lot to AG, we'd still encourage you to apply so that we can learn more about you!
What we can give you in return
We offer a fantastic place to work with a competitive and flexible benefits package. This includes:
- A minimum of 25 days holiday which increases with length of service. Plus, the option to buy and sell holiday
- An annual salary review
- Group pension scheme
- A Level 1 Medicash Plan provided to all employees
- Life assurance, which includes access to a smart health app
- An employee assistance programme for you and your family
- One volunteering day per year
- Cinema society discounts
- GymFlex discounts
- Bupa private medical insurance available
- Electric car and cycle to work schemes
