Training to become a qualified accountant is a rewarding and challenging career and can open up a whole host of opportunities for you. Albert Goodman are looking to train and develop people who could be our future partners and leaders, and our vacancies are open to graduates with any degree, as well as school leavers, and those looking for a career change. Our trainees are an important part of our strategy and the growth of our firm. We’ve now opened the recruitment process for our 2026 trainee intakes. If successful you would most likely join us on one of three inductions; these are being held in March, July and August.
Albert Goodman have 5 offices across the South West; Taunton, Yeovil, Weymouth, Bristol and Weston-super-Mare. Whilst completing your application you will be able to select which of these locations you’d like to be considered for. To find our next generation of trainees, we will be holding assessment events throughout 2026. These recruitment days give you the opportunity to showcase your skills, learn about life at AG, and most importantly meet some of our brilliant people!
The role depends on your academic history and experience, you will be completing a chosen training qualification – this could be the AAT or ACA. We also offer specialist Tax qualifications – ATT and ACA/CTA. Alongside studying, you will be an integral member of the team, providing a professional service to clients and gaining the hands-on experience needed to become a qualified accountant.

What we need from you: For you to be a confident and collaborative team player. The ability to demonstrate outstanding customer service to clients. Self-motivation and a strong work ethic. Happy working accurately with figures. To achieve a qualification and to consistently give the best and most up-to-date advice to clients, you will need to be competent at studying and passing exams. Your historic academic or professional results are used as a guide when shortlisting, however we will also consider other factors such as experience, other qualifications and skills. As an indicator for the following qualifications, we look for:
- AAT / ATT: Ideally a minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) including Maths and English and a minimum of 2 A Levels (or equivalent).
- ACA / CTA: Ideally a minimum of a 2:2 in your degree or equivalent, although the subject of your degree is not important.
