Our client is a long-established European investment platform focused on supporting entrepreneurs and management teams in building resilient, high-growth businesses. With a multi-decade track record and offices across key Western European markets, the firm deploys capital through regionally embedded teams with deep relationships, sector familiarity, and a value-oriented investment philosophy. The group partners with companies across a range of sectors, with a preference for market leaders and differentiated platforms undergoing generational transition, expansion, or strategic repositioning. The firm is currently investing out of its latest mid-sized buyout fund and is actively expanding its presence in the UK. To support this growth, we are seeking to appoint an Investment Professional to join the team in London. This role offers direct exposure to origination, execution, and portfolio development—alongside experienced investors with a collaborative, low-ego culture. The position is well-suited to individuals with strong analytical foundations and a practical, hands-on approach to company building.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct deep-dive investment analysis, including full financial modelling (LBO, sensitivities, cash flow bridges) and commercial assessments across a diverse set of sectors and company profiles.
- Lead individual workstreams in live transactions—managing external advisors (legal, financial, tax, commercial), coordinating data room processes, and preparing Investment Committee materials and board updates.
- Develop and maintain proprietary deal sourcing pipelines by cultivating relationships with intermediaries, advisors, and founders across the DACH region.
- Support management teams post-close, including board meeting preparation, KPI tracking, 100-day planning, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to strategic value creation across portfolio companies, including buy-and-build execution, bolt-on pipeline screening, integration planning, and operational transformation.
- Collaborate closely with Partners and senior investment team members on fund strategy, competitive positioning, and sector deep dives.
- Maintain internal investment databases, knowledge-sharing tools, and track sectoral trends to inform origination and thematic sourcing efforts.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in M&A advisory (investment banking), private equity, strategy consulting, or Big 4 transaction services with exposure to buy-side workstreams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead transaction processes from initial screening to closing, including complex diligence, modelling, and stakeholder coordination.
- Strong technical skill set, including fluency in advanced Excel modelling, business valuation methods, and financial structuring.
- Commercial acumen and a track record of synthesizing complex business models into actionable investment theses.
- Experience working directly with company founders, family-owned businesses, or entrepreneurial management teams preferred.
- Proactive, self-starter attitude with an ownership mindset, capable of working independently and navigating ambiguity.
- Natural team player with a low-ego, pragmatic approach and a willingness to contribute across all levels of the firm.
- Fluent in English; other European languages a plus.
- University degree from a leading institution; further qualifications (e.g., CFA, ACA) welcomed but not required.
