Firm: Premier Specialist Private Equity Sponsor
Location: London, United Kingdom
Firm Overview
Our client is a premier specialist private equity firm with over £2bn in committed capital, focused exclusively on middle-market investments across the healthcare, healthtech, and life sciences sectors. Operating out of London, the firm actively deploys capital from its latest fund to back high-growth platform businesses across Continental Europe and the UK. Combining deep domain specialization with a proven buy-and-build playbook, the fund partners closely with founders and executive teams to scale market-leading, resilient healthcare enterprises.
The Opportunity
The firm is seeking to appoint an exceptional Associate to join its London investment team. Operating within a lean, high-conviction deal structure, the successful candidate will gain direct, end-to-end exposure across the entire investment lifecycle—from thesis generation and deal origination to complex LBO underwriting, cross-border due diligence, transaction execution, and post-acquisition value creation.
Key Responsibilities
- LBO Modeling & Financial Underwriting: Build, own, and stress-test integrated 3-statement financial models, LBOs, DCFs, and returns sensitivity matrices (IRR/MoIC) to rigorously evaluate prospective investment opportunities.
- Due Diligence & IC Submissions: Co-lead multi-disciplinary diligence workstreams (commercial, financial, legal, regulatory, and operational) alongside external third-party advisors. Synthesize complex findings into thesis-driven Investment Committee (IC) memoranda.
- Deal Origination & Sector Intelligence: Conduct deep-dive sub-sector mapping across targeted verticals—including digital health, diagnostics, provider services, medtech, and pharma services—to identify market trends, map founder ecosystems, and drive proprietary deal flow.
- Portfolio Operations & Buy-and-Build Execution: Partner directly with portfolio company leadership teams to monitor financial performance and KPIs, execute inorganic add-on acquisitions, and support strategic value creation initiatives through to exit.
Candidate Profile
- Professional Experience: 3+ years of M&A, Private Equity, or Transaction Advisory experience within a top-tier investment bank, mid-market PE fund, or leading management consulting / Big Four CDD team.
- Sector Focus: Proven transaction exposure or a demonstrated commercial passion for Healthcare, Healthtech, Medtech, or adjacent life sciences sub-sectors.
- Technical Toolkit: Advanced financial modeling skills (LBO, M&A) with a solid grounding in corporate finance, valuation methodologies, and accounting principles.
- Execution & Communication: High quantitative horsepower paired with concise, institutional-grade writing skills for IC materials and the gravitas to interface credibly with senior executives and advisors.
- Education & Languages: Exceptional academic credentials from a top-tier university in Finance, Economics, STEM, or Medicine. Flawless business English is essential; additional European languages (German, French, or Dutch) are a strong advantage given cross-border European deal execution.
