Software Engineer – Data & AI Tools | London (In-Person) | Deep Tech VC | Up to £90K + upside
We’re working with a mission-driven venture capital firm scaling their presence in London. Their team backs founders solving the world’s most critical problems – think synthetic biology, clean energy, future food, climate tech, and space.
They’re now hiring a Software Engineer to help build internal AI/data tools that supercharge everything from founder support to deep research. You'll be working in a small team with real ownership, getting exposure to a huge variety of products, ideas, and next-gen science.
Day-to-Day:
- Design and build internal tools that support deep tech founders on hiring, fundraising, and scaling
- Build and maintain data pipelines that pull from multiple sources (APIs, webhooks, research databases)
- Own early MVPs of new tools from idea to deployment (you’ll ship fast!)
- Work with GPT-style models to extract, summarise, and act on complex scientific data
- Collaborate with investors, engineers, and operators to explore new use cases
- Tackle product discovery, fast iteration, and data wrangling – all in one
Skills / Experience:
- 3+ years experience in software engineering (ideally at a fast-paced, product-focused company)
- Strong Python and data engineering (ETL, SQL architecture, systems integration)
- Experience connecting multiple data sources and services
- Familiarity with ML/NLP and how to leverage existing models
- Entrepreneurial mindset – you enjoy building and iterating quickly
- Bonus: passion for science, AI, or solving massive global problems
What makes this one different?
You’ll be embedded in a world-class VC team, working at the intersection of tech, impact, and science. It’s rare to find a role where you’re building tools inside the firm that directly shape how deep tech startups are created. If you’ve ever thought about joining a start-up or launching your own in future, this is a brilliant place to learn from the inside.
If that sounds like you – send over your CV!
Thanks,
Chloe
