Albert Bow is partnering with a profitable, high-growth AI software company building a next-generation research and decision intelligence platform used by globally recognised brands and enterprises. Having already built a successful commercial business with strong recurring revenue, the company is now investing heavily into its AI platform - a product designed to combine large language models and workflow automation into a single operating system for their clients. This is not an experimentation-stage startup. The product is already being used in production and the business is scaling quickly, with ambitious growth plans over the next few years. They’re now looking to hire a Lead Product Engineer to help shape the technical direction of the platform as it enters its next phase of growth.
Role Overview
This is a senior individual contributor role focused on architecture, product engineering, and AI systems design. You’ll work closely with a small group of highly technical engineers to define how the platform evolves technically and operationally over the coming years. The environment is highly autonomous and product-focused. Engineers are expected to operate close to customers, contribute to product direction, and own problems from idea through to production. This role would suit someone who enjoys balancing deep technical execution with strategic thinking and who wants meaningful ownership without moving into people management.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Writing and shipping production-ready code across backend services, AI-driven workflows, and end-user product features.
- Contributing to and influencing system design across AI infrastructure, frontend applications, and backend architecture.
- Building and maintaining production LLM systems, including orchestration layers, retrieval pipelines, evaluation tooling, and system observability.
- Partnering closely with Product and commercial stakeholders to translate real customer problems into scalable, production-grade solutions.
- Helping define and uphold engineering quality standards across testing practices, deployment processes, code reviews, monitoring, and system reliability.
- Designing for iteration speed while ensuring systems remain robust, maintainable, and scalable over time.
- Feeding into technical roadmap discussions and proactively identifying future scaling constraints or architectural risks.
- Supporting the growth of other engineers through thoughtful code reviews, pairing, and informal technical mentorship.
- Engaging directly with customers to understand workflows, surface friction points, and shape product direction from real-world usage.
What They’re Looking For:
- Strong full-stack engineering experience, with particular depth in backend systems.
- Proven track record of designing, building, and operating distributed systems in production environments.
- Solid Python experience, alongside familiarity with modern frontend frameworks and tooling.
- Hands-on experience shipping AI or LLM-powered products beyond early prototypes or experiments.
- Comfortable working with evaluation systems, agent-based workflows, retrieval-augmented architectures, and production AI tooling.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound architectural decisions in high-velocity, evolving product environments.
- Strong product intuition and ability to navigate ambiguous technical and business problems without clear requirements.
- Active use of modern AI-assisted development tools as part of everyday engineering practice.
- Typically 6+ years of engineering experience, though strong demonstrable impact.
Tech Stack
Python, FastAPI, React, TypeScript, Kubernetes, GCP, Redis, Postgres, LangGraph, Datadog.
