The Opportunity
We are working with a specialist sports trading business looking to hire a Head Trader to take ownership of its trading function and help lead the next stage of growth.
The business has grown to a team of around 10 across London and Macedonia, combining traders and developers within a highly technical, data-driven environment.
The business is already operational and trading successfully. This isn't a role to come in and build everything from scratch; they are looking for someone who can take ownership of the existing trading desk, raise the level of the team and help shape where the trading operation goes next.
Alongside its core football betting activity, the business is actively exploring the opportunity within prediction markets, giving the incoming Head Trader scope to help determine how the firm approaches an emerging market.
The Role
You will report directly to the founder and take responsibility for running the trading desk.
The role will cover:
- Leading and managing the existing trading team.
- Taking ownership of day-to-day trading performance and decision-making.
- Setting the strategy and direction of the trading operation alongside the founder.
- Developing and improving existing football trading approaches.
- Identifying new strategies, markets and opportunities for the business.
- Working closely with developers and quantitative team members to improve trading tools and infrastructure.
- Helping recruit, develop and structure the trading team as the business grows.
- Assessing how prediction markets can complement the firm's existing sports trading expertise.
What They're Looking For
The key requirement is genuine professional football trading experience.
You should be someone who:
- Has a strong track record trading football professionally.
- Understands how a successful sports trading operation works in practice.
- Can manage traders while remaining close to the markets yourself.
- Has strong judgement around pricing, risk and trading strategy.
- Can challenge existing approaches and bring your own ideas to the table.
- Is comfortable taking genuine ownership rather than operating within a narrowly defined remit.
This is a senior hire, so the business is not looking for someone who needs to be brought up to speed on professional sports trading.
