I’m working with a well-established, independently run alternative asset manager with 25+ years in the market and over $5bn AUM. They operate across London, New York, Hong Kong, Geneva, Dubai, Singapore and the BVI, supporting institutional investors, private banks, family offices and HNWIs across hedge fund and private equity strategies.

They’re now hiring a Data Engineer to join a small, high-output engineering team building and running a proprietary cloud-native data platform. You’ll work directly with stakeholders across operations, research and investment, getting under the skin of how data moves across the business, spotting inefficiencies, and fixing the things that slow people down.

  • Production pipelines from financial data vendors
  • Data flow optimisation across the business
  • AI capability, including RAG pipelines and OCR-based document extraction
  • AWS infrastructure managed with Terraform
  • Strong Python and SQL
  • Hands-on AWS experience
  • Comfortable using AI engineering tools such as Cursor, Claude Code or Codex

Bonus points for:

  • Financial services experience

You’ll suit this role if you like autonomy, enjoy solving messy business problems, and get genuinely annoyed when a process is more manual than it needs to be.
