We’re looking for a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer / Architect to lead a critical cloud hardening and resilience project. You’ll take an existing AWS environment and transform it into a secure, highly available, production-grade platform — implementing best-in-class backup, failover, disaster recovery, and security controls. This is a hands-on delivery role with architectural ownership.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design and implement backup & disaster recovery strategy (RTO/RPO defined)
  • Build multi-AZ, highly available architectures with automated failover
  • Implement AWS Network Firewall & WAF for full perimeter security
  • Harden environments with least privilege IAM, MFA, and access controls
  • Set up CloudWatch, CloudTrail & VPC Flow Logs for monitoring and audit
  • Deliver Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / CloudFormation / scripts)
  • Create runbooks, architecture diagrams, and DR procedures
  • Execute testing & validation (failover, backup restore, DR simulation)

Key Requirements

We’re targeting experienced contractors who can hit the ground running:

Core Skills

  • Strong hands-on AWS experience (5+ years)
  • Proven experience with:
    • High availability & failover design
    • Backup, replication & disaster recovery
    • AWS networking & security architecture
  • Deep understanding of:
    • IAM (RBAC, least privilege, MFA)
    • CloudWatch, CloudTrail, logging & monitoring
  • Experience implementing:
    • AWS WAF & Network Firewall (or similar)
    • Secure VPC design (segmentation, NACLs, security groups)

Technical Tools

  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / CloudFormation preferred)
  • AWS services: EC2, RDS/SQL, EBS, ELB, VPC

Bonus

  • Experience in security-focused or regulated environments
  • Strong documentation & stakeholder communication skills

By the end of the contract, you will have delivered:

  • A fully hardened AWS environment
  • Tested and validated failover & DR processes
  • Complete monitoring, alerting, and security controls
  • Clear documentation and runbooks for ongoing operations
