We have an exciting opportunity for a new member to join our fantastic Patient Care team, key roles include
- Acting as the first point of contact for patients, either in person on the telephone or via email.
- Coordinating appointments, ordering of prescriptions, referrals, and follow-up
- Maintaining accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality
- Work closely with healthcare professionals to deliver seamless care
Main duties of the job
The following are the core responsibilities of the Patient Care Administrator. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
- Assist with ongoing updates and monitor the practice appointment system
- Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments, queries and prescriptions.
- Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
- Signpost patients to the correct service
- Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
- Clinically code data on the practice clinical system, SystmOne
- Photocopy documentation as required
- Assist with the process of data entry for new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
- Input data into patients healthcare records as necessary
- Direct requests for information, i.e., Subject Access Requests (SAR), insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team
- Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
- Carry out system searches as requested
- Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
- Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice board
- Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
- Action incoming emails and correspondence as necessary
About us
Albany Surgery is set in the centre of Newton Abbot, in modern premises built approximately 13 years ago. We have a growing list size of approximately 10,000. We are members of Newton West Primary Care Network and work collaboratively within our PCN. The PCN support team has a lead manager working across the member practices, supported by a team of social prescribers, health and wellbeing coaches.
We are a multi skilled team consisting of: 4 GP partners, 4 salaried GPs, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 2 practice nurses, 3 health care assistants, a pharmacist and pharmacy technician, management and patient care team.
Education and learning is at the heart of the practice and we train GP registrars, provide medical student placements and teaching throughout the year, as well as mentoring our own staff in their ongoing development. We also participate in medical research.
