Saw Operator/ Timber Machine Operator in Desborough

We are looking for an experienced Timber Saw Operator who has experience of working with timber in a saw mill environment to join our growing team on a full‑time, permanent basis. This role requires strong mechanical ability, consistent reliability, and a clear commitment to safe working practices. You will be responsible for cutting materials accurately using a range of saws and machinery. A steady work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to follow safety procedures at all times are essential. Hours: M-T 8:00 – 4:30, F 8:00 – 4:00. Holiday Entitlement: 28 Days total. We operate a two week shutdown in summer and at Christmas (dates TBC) Tasks to be carried out: * Operate Manual and Semi Automatic Cross Cut, Small and large Bandsaws and saws to meet required specifications. * Handle and move materials safely, following manual handling guidelines. * Measure and calculate cutting dimensions and angles. * Read and follow cutting lists accurately. * Work with the team to maintain an efficient and safe workflow. * Keep the work area clean, organised, and compliant with all health and safety rules. * Report any hazards, faults, or safety concerns immediately. * Accurately cut angles to match patterns. General Requirements: * Experience operating Cross Cut Saws and Band Saws with suitable training. * Knowledge of safe materials handling, including lifting heavy items. * Ability to use hand tools confidently. * Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions. * Be familiar with imperial and metric measurements. * A reliable, consistent work ethic, with good timekeeping and a responsible approach to safety. * Willingness to follow all company safety procedures and report issues promptly Job Type: Full Time, Permanant Benefits: Company pension, Employee discount Location of job: Based at Desborough, Northamptonshire, the factory is out of town, so transport is required.
