Responsibilities:
- Record electrocardiograms (EKGs) of customers ranging in age from newborn to geriatric.
- Download EKGs from cart to the MUSE EKG Computer System.
- Deliver cardiac rhythm strips from the telemetry station to various nursing units and post these strips in specified unit locations.
- Perform miscellaneous duties related to cardiac monitoring, including troubleshooting telemetry transmitter packs (e.g., replacing worn electrodes, changing batteries, changing wires).
- Assist in the search and retrieval of misplaced telemetry transmitter packs and cardiac pacemakers.
- Educate various disciplines in EKG technique.
- Utilize patient identifiers, place telemetry transmitter packs, and verify signal with monitor technician communication.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Heart Saver (CPR) certification.
- Some patient contact preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Speak, read, and write in English; read documents such as requisitions and document on established forms; communicate cooperatively and effectively to clients, including children.
- Adhere to the highest standards of ethical conduct as defined by AMC, including confidentiality/privacy (HIPAA).
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
