Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Migration Test Manager to join a major Wealth Management transformation programme. This role goes beyond traditional migration testing: we need someone who has data migration, with direct experience leading and pulling together detailed data migration mapping specifications and documentation—ideally within a wealth migration platform.

You will be responsible for testing activities across a complex system migration, including handling data that spans more than 40 years on the legacy side. The successful candidate must be confident in data modelling, object modelling, and defining end-to-end mapping specifications. Experience with Avaloq is a strong bonus.

In addition to technical depth, this role requires exceptional stakeholder management, including the ability to drive decisions, manage conflict, push back where needed, and navigate difficult conversations with clarity and authority.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the migration testing workstream, ensuring rigorous validation of all data migration processes.
• Develop, own, and refine the migration test strategy, scope, and approach, aligned with delivery milestones and sprint cycles.
• Work closely with data teams to interpret, validate, and challenge data migration mappings and object models.
• Oversee ETL testing to ensure correct extraction, transformation, and loading of data into the target platform.
• Validate data accuracy, completeness, integrity, and reconciliation against source systems, business rules, and detailed mapping specifications.
• Update and maintain test scripts, documentation, and mapping artefacts in line with evolving data models and migration logic.
• Collaborate with business, technology, and data architecture teams to ensure full end-to-end testing coverage.
• Drive defect management, including triage, prioritisation, and timely resolution.
• Provide clear, concise reporting to senior stakeholders, articulating risks, issues, and decisions required.
• Assertively manage challenging stakeholders, lead tough conversations, and push back where necessary to protect quality and timelines.
• Support readiness testing, go-live validation, and post-migration checks.

Key Skills and Experience

• Proven experience as a Migration Test Manager or Migration Test Lead within financial services or large-scale transformation programmes.
• Hands-on expertise in defining and working with data migration mapping specifications—ideally within wealth management platforms.
• Strong background in data modelling, object modelling, and data migration design principles.
• Experience dealing with complex, aged legacy data (40+ years) and the challenges of migrating into modern architectures.
• Experience with Avaloq data structures and migration frameworks advantageous but not required
• Strong understanding of ETL processes, data validation, and testing of complex data pipelines.
• Excellent conflict management skills—able to handle tough conversations, push back on stakeholders, and drive decisions.
• Strong defect management experience using tools such as JIRA, HP ALM, or similar.
• Highly organised, delivery-focused, and comfortable taking full ownership of outcomes.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical approach to identifying and resolving data issues.
