Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Risk Manager to join Albany Beck and play a key role in growing our Risk Practice. This opportunity sits within our consulting business, supporting clients across non-financial, financial and strategic risk management, with a particular focus on commercial and operational functions and end-to-end order-to-cash processes. The role will involve partnering closely with senior stakeholders across Commercial, Operations, Finance, Technology and Product functions to identify and articulate risk, support informed decision-making and strengthen controls and governance across business-as-usual operations, change programmes and transformation initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced risk professional who thrives in complex environments, can navigate ambiguity and wants to contribute to the continued growth and development of Albany Beck’s risk capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Second Line of Defence oversight across business-as-usual operations, transformation programmes, system changes, process redesign and new commercial initiatives within commercial, customer and order-to-cash functions.
- Identify, assess and articulate strategic, operational and execution risks across commercial and operational processes.
- Partner with Commercial, Operations, Finance, Technology and Product teams to embed risk considerations into decision-making, process design and execution.
- Conduct risk deep-dives and independently determine key areas of focus across the coverage remit.
- Apply operational resilience principles to support disruption management, analyse incidents, operational losses and customer impacts, and provide meaningful risk insights.
- Support and challenge First Line teams in delivering Risk and Control Assessments (RCAs), ensuring risks are clearly defined, controls are effective and remediation plans are robust where risks sit outside appetite.
- Prepare concise, high-impact reporting and materials for senior leadership, governance forums and risk committees, translating complex operational issues into clear risk narratives.
- Build strong relationships across all three lines of defence to enhance risk culture and improve risk management practices.
- Contribute to the wider Risk Practice, supporting capability growth, thought leadership and the development of risk offerings across Albany Beck.
Key Skills & Experience
- Significant experience in non-financial risk management within regulated or complex matrix environments.
- Strong understanding of commercial and operational processes, including order management, billing, customer operations, process hand-offs and execution risk.
- Exposure to sales or legal processes is advantageous.
- Proven experience operating in ambiguous and evolving environments, applying sound judgement rather than relying solely on frameworks.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence, challenge and engage senior leaders effectively.
- Experience supporting large-scale change, transformation, automation or system implementation programmes, identifying execution and control risks early.
- Strong understanding of operational resilience and risk management principles.
- Ability to translate complex operational challenges into clear, strategic risk language for senior decision-makers.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively while maintaining independence.
- Demonstrated resilience, curiosity and strong judgement when managing challenging or evolving risk matters.
- Growth mindset with experience mentoring others and contributing to broader team development.
