Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Full Stack Developer to join our engineering team, delivering modern, scalable solutions within a banking and financial services environment.
The successful candidate will have strong expertise across backend and frontend technologies, with a focus on Java-based distributed systems, cloud-native development, and FX platform modernisation initiatives.
You will play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality solutions using Java 21, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, React JS, and Microsoft Azure, supporting the transformation and modernisation of critical financial platforms.
This role will involve working on complex, high-performance systems and contributing to the evolution of next-generation foreign exchange (FX) technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable applications using Java 21, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud.
Build modern, responsive user interfaces using React JS and contemporary frontend development practices.
Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices-based solutions.
Design and support distributed systems using event-driven architectures.
Work with messaging technologies including Kafka and JMS.
Deploy and manage applications within Microsoft Azure cloud environments.
Support automated delivery pipelines through CI/CD practices and Dev Ops tooling.
Apply strong engineering principles including Test Driven Development (TDD), JUnit testing, code quality standards, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with architects, product owners, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to deliver reliable solutions.
Contribute to FX modernisation programmes, helping transform legacy platforms into scalable, cloud-enabled, modern architectures.
Extensive commercial experience as a Senior Java Developer / Full Stack Engineer.
Strong hands-on experience with:
Spring Boot
Spring Cloud
React JS
REST APIs
Distributed systems
Experience developing and supporting event-driven architectures using:
JMS messaging
Proven experience with Azure cloud deployments and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong understanding of software engineering best practices including:
TDD
JUnit
Automated testing
Experience working within banking, financial services, or other highly regulated environments.
Previous experience working on FX platforms, trading systems, or financial markets technology.
Experience contributing to FX modernisation and digital transformation initiatives.
Experience migrating or transforming legacy applications into modern cloud-native architectures.
Familiarity with enterprise-scale systems and high-volume transaction processing.
