Role overview
Due to continued growth and having recently gained some new, prestigious contracts, Alba Facilities Services has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, permanent Building Services Engineer (Commercial Gas with install bias) to join our engineering team based in Central Scotland. Reporting to the Building Services Supervisor you will be responsible for the installation, repairs, service and maintenance of all aspects of gas heating & hot water systems in our clients’ premises to agreed standards and specifications.

The successful candidate will receive a salary equivalent to working 5 days (40 hours) but only be required to work 4 days (34 hours) each week. As a Field based commercial gas engineer you will be joining a team of engineers with a vast experience in the industry. We invest in you for the long term, to ensure you reach your full potential. Key tasks
- Install/service/repair gas heating boilers in commercial premises
- Install and maintain gas heating systems (gas fired boilers, radiators, pipework etc.)
- Reactive maintenance
- Proactive maintenance
- Attending scheduled pre planned maintenance visits (PPMs)
- Generate quotes for return visits or additional issues identified on site
- Support helpdesk staff/other members of engineering team when required
- Liaise with suppliers to identify required materials/parts for Jobs
- Client interaction to manage the relationship and service delivery.
- Participate in out of hours on call rota (1 week in 6/7)
- Demonstrate an understanding of what service delivery excellence is for your role, ensuring you deliver the basics right every time and are part of a team where service is central to good performance.
Managing Risk
- Awareness of your operational and regulation risks which may impend your work activities.
- Responsibility for reporting to your line manager any risk which may impact the business.
Managing Health & Safety
- Adhere to Risk Assessments and Method Statements in line with H&S requirements
- Liaising with the Supervisor/Operations Manager to ensure any compliance as part of your role is adhered to within the framework set
Criteria
Essential (attributes required for candidate to be considered)- Excellent understanding of Commercial heating systems
- Possess technical skills to install, basic fault find and rectify
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Have a flexible approach to work.
- Be prepared to work out of hours when required and be part of the out of hours call out rota if required
- Worked in a commercial & domestic heating environment
- Understand customer needs for 1st time fix
- Experience of working in a field based engineering/construction environment
- Good interpersonal & communicating skills.
- Good organisational skills and a Can-Do Attitude
- Able to use own initiative
- Full Driving Licence
- ACS Gas Qualified – Commercial
- Time served Building Services Engineer: SVQ Level 3 (SCQF Level 7) in Service, Maintain and Commission Building Engineering Services
- IT literate with a tablet or PDA
- Experience of working in a high-end client environment with regular face to face engagement with building managers
