Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineer (Site Based) The Company A UK-based Facilities Management company delivering 24/7/365 maintenance services across a diverse portfolio of commercial and critical environments. The Role We are seeking an experienced Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineer to join the on-site engineering team at a large hospital estate in Newcastle. This is a site-based position responsible for the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repair of a wide range of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment throughout a busy healthcare environment. Key responsibilities will include: * Service, maintenance and fault finding on split systems, VRV/VRF systems, chillers and commercial refrigeration equipment. * Carrying out planned preventative maintenance across critical and non-critical hospital areas. * Diagnosing and repairing equipment breakdowns to minimise operational downtime. * Undertaking small installation and remedial works where required. * Maintaining accurate service records and ensuring compliance with statutory and site-specific regulations. * Supporting the wider engineering team in maintaining the hospital's mechanical services infrastructure. * Participating in the site's call-out rota. * Ensuring all works are completed safely and in accordance with healthcare and HTM compliance standards. This role offers the opportunity to work within a technically challenging and highly regulated healthcare environment where reliability, compliance and service delivery are paramount. The Person The successful candidate will be an experienced Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineer with a strong background in service, maintenance and fault finding. Essential Requirements: * F-Gas Category 1 Certification. * Proven experience working on split systems, VRV/VRF systems, chillers and refrigeration equipment. * Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills. * Excellent understanding of planned and reactive maintenance. * Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-skilled engineering team. * Experience within hospitals, healthcare environments or other critical facilities would be advantageous. * Full UK Driving Licence. Salary & Benefits * Salary up to £48,000 per annum depending on experience. * Company van included. * 40-hour working week. * 23 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays. * Company pension scheme (3% employee / 5% employer contribution). * Call-out rota: 1 in 5. * £150 standby allowance. * Overtime rates of x1.5 and x2. * Ongoing training and career development. * Stable, long-term contract within a prestigious healthcare environment.
