Job Title: M&E Design Manager – Building Services (Mechanical Bias) Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire Salary: £52,500 – £62,500 + Car Allowance + Excellent Benefits Type: Full-time, Permanent The Company An established and rapidly expanding group of M&E building services companies, with a group turnover of approximately £100m, is seeking an M&E Design Manager – Design & Build, to support its thriving operations in the North. The business has a strong industry reputation, a turnover of around £15m within its specialist pre-fabrication division, and a culture built on collaboration, innovation, and high performance. The Role This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced M&E Design Manager – Design & Build to take ownership of the building services design process across a portfolio of large-scale, high-profile projects. The role is mechanically biased but requires a broad understanding of all building services disciplines. The position will involve close collaboration with multidisciplined internal and external teams to ensure project delivery meets the highest technical and regulatory standards. A key part of the role will also be mentoring junior engineers and technicians and supporting the development of a growing design team. Key Responsibilities * Oversee the design process on a range of major building services projects * Act as the client’s key point of contact for design-related matters * Support and manage a team of engineers and technicians * Ensure design compliance with statutory, regulatory, and contractual obligations * Assist in the creation and management of project design programmes * Track and monitor RFIs, technical submittals, and design progress * Ensure all design deliverables meet agreed quality and time standards * Coordinate with commercial and delivery teams to capture changes in scope * Support innovation and continuous improvement within the design function Requirements * 8–10+ years of experience in building services design (mechanical bias preferred) * HNC or higher qualification in Building Services Engineering or related discipline * Experience across a broad range of sectors desirable * Sound understanding of BIM protocols; REVIT and Navisworks experience beneficial * Ability to lead from the front and adopt a proactive, hands-on approach * Excellent time management, communication, and leadership skills * Full UK driving licence required Package * £52,500 – £62,500 salary depending on experience * Car allowance * 35 days annual leave (including bank holidays) * Enhanced company pension * Enhanced maternity and paternity pay (following qualifying period) * Contractual sick pay * Cycle to Work Scheme * Supportive, energetic company culture focused on collaboration and success * Career development within a rapidly growing group This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, growing business where you can play a central role in the successful delivery of technically challenging projects.
