An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport & Warehouse Operations Manager to join a well-established and growing food manufacturing business in North Yorkshire. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing warehouse and transport operations, ensuring products are moved safely, efficiently and cost-effectively between farms, production sites and customer depots. You'll lead a dedicated team, manage an in-house fleet, and play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence across the supply chain. The Role

Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for leading warehouse and transport operations while ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance and service delivery. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing warehouse and transport teams to deliver exceptional operational performance.
  • Managing an owned fleet of vehicles, ensuring full compliance with DVSA regulations and Operator Licence requirements.
  • Proactively managing drivers' hours, tachographs, vehicle maintenance and fleet optimisation.
  • Delivering KPI targets including On Time In Full (OTIF), productivity, cost per case and budget performance.
  • Driving a culture of health & safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Building strong working relationships with farmers, customers, suppliers and third-party logistics providers.
  • Managing stock accuracy across raw materials and finished goods.
  • Ensuring efficient warehouse storage, stock movement, picking accuracy and damage reduction.
  • Reviewing operational processes and implementing improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Leading change initiatives and supporting future business growth through effective transport and warehouse planning.
  • Managing supplier relationships including hauliers, vehicle maintenance providers and material handling equipment suppliers.
  • Planning future operational requirements, including fleet strategy, budgets, succession planning and resource requirements over the next 6-18 months.
  • Championing diversity, inclusion, colleague engagement and talent development.

About You

We're looking for a confident operational leader with experience in transport, warehouse or logistics management within a fast-paced environment. You'll ideally have:

  • Proven experience managing warehouse and transport operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of logistics, transport operations, health & safety and employment legislation.
  • Experience managing operational budgets, forecasting and cost control.
  • Strong analytical, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • A track record of delivering operational KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Desirable: Transport Manager CPC. IOSH qualification.
