We are seeking a Junior Mechanical & Electrical Surveyor to join our growing Asset Management team in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for someone currently working in an M&E engineering, maintenance, or FM role who is looking to transition into a professional surveying career. You will support the delivery of:

  • M&E asset surveys across a diverse property portfolio
  • Plantroom inspections and condition assessments
  • Asset verification and data collection for building services systems

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Assisting senior surveyors with on-site mechanical and electrical asset surveys
  • Inspecting plantrooms and building services installations (HVAC, electrical systems, heating, etc.)
  • Logging and tagging equipment, recording asset data (age, condition, specification)
  • Producing accurate survey notes and digital records using asset management software
  • Supporting condition assessments and lifecycle planning exercises
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary surveying and asset consultancy team

This is a site-focused role with a blend of field-based work and office time based in Leeds.

We are keen to speak with individuals who have a practical understanding of building services and are looking to take the next step in their career. You may currently be working as:

  • HVAC Engineer
  • Electrician
  • Building Services Engineer
  • FM / Maintenance Engineer

Key requirements:

  • A background in mechanical or electrical engineering (essential)
  • Ideally studying towards a BTEC, HNC, or HND in Building Services or an engineering-related discipline
  • Basic understanding of:
    • Plantrooms
    • HVAC systems
    • Electrical installations
  • Strong IT skills (Excel, tablets, mobile data capture tools)
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with clients
  • A genuine interest in moving into surveying / consultancy
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)

The Salary & Package:

  • Circa £40,000
  • 24 days holiday + bank holidays
  • 3% pension contribution
  • Laptop
  • Mobile phone
  • Own vehicle would be needed but you will be remunerated at 55p per mile for any usage.

This role offers clear progression into M&E surveying, asset consultancy, and building surveying. Full training and mentoring provided. Hybrid working, with a requirement to attend the Leeds (Wellington Place) office, so candidates must live within a commutable distance.
