The Role:

As Engineering Maintenance Team Leader, you will support the Engineering Supervisor in managing site maintenance activities, leading a team of mechanical and electrical engineers, and coordinating contractors to meet daily production and maintenance goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise day-to-day activities of mechanical and electrical engineers
  • Oversee maintenance of all site machinery, utilities, buildings, and associated services
  • Manage and supervise on-site contractors and specialist service providers
  • Drive compliance with health & safety, hygiene, and environmental standards
  • Support the implementation of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules
  • Collaborate with production, operations, and technical teams to improve equipment uptime and efficiency
  • Maintain accurate documentation and engineering data
  • Contribute to the training and development of engineering staff
  • Assist in the delivery of engineering projects on time and within budget
  • Promote a “right first time” and continuous improvement culture within the team

What We're Looking For:

Education & Qualifications:

  • Time-served engineer with nationally recognised qualifications
  • Apprenticeship or equivalent in an engineering discipline
  • Food Safety Level 3 qualification desirable
  • Health & Safety qualification (advantageous)

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in a food or FMCG engineering environment
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Excellent understanding of PPM systems, HACCP, GMP, and safety regulations
  • Effective communicator with a flexible and hands-on approach
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and implementing technical improvements
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and engineering management systems
