A highly regarded food manufacturing business in Cheshire is seeking an experienced Shift Manager β Technical to join its site leadership team. This is a key role responsible for leading a multifunctional technical team and ensuring the consistent delivery of food safety, quality, legality and integrity across the operation, in line with Morrisons Manufacturing and site technical standards.
Reporting to the Site Manager and working under the guidance of the Technical Manager, you will provide strong technical leadership, support production operations, manage supplier performance and play a critical role in maintaining site compliance, accreditations and audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and manage a site technical team, supporting recruitment, talent development and performance management
- Ensure the manufacture of safe, legal and quality products, meeting customer and regulatory requirements
- Drive compliance to food safety, health & safety, quality and site technical standards
- Proactively manage site risks, trends, complaints and non-conformances
- Manage internal audits, process validations and site document control
- Support and influence continuous improvement across people, processes and systems
- Actively contribute to site accreditations and crisis management activities, including product recalls
- Work collaboratively with operations, engineering, NPD, hygiene, HR, commercial teams and external stakeholders
- Support cost control, budget management and stock optimisation initiatives
About You
- Proven experience in a technical leadership role within FMCG food manufacturing
- Strong understanding of food safety, quality, legality and compliance across the supply chain
- Experience working in high-risk / high-care environments (where applicable)
- Confident managing audits, KPIs and technical systems
- Able to lead change, manage data effectively and prioritise workloads
- Investigative, analytical and decisive with a proactive mindset
- Degree qualified in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Engineering, Manufacturing or similar (desirable)
