Our client, a highly regarded food manufacturing business based in the East Riding of Yorkshire, wishes to appoint a Business Unit Controller on a 12 month contract.
Job Purpose
The Business Unit Controller will provide commercial management for the designated business unit, maintaining relationships at site and divisional level, driving profitable growth, managing costings, forecasts, and supply chain initiatives, and supporting new business development. The role involves working closely with NPD, Marketing, Technical, Operations, Procurement, and Commercial teams.
Main Duties
- Develop and manage the business unitβs sales ledger to drive profitable growth.
- Lead and develop a team of account managers and executives to achieve performance targets.
- Collaborate with NPD and category teams to drive innovation and maintain strong inter-site relationships.
- Maintain full knowledge of the product range and act as first point of contact for account-related issues.
- Manage project and supply chain initiatives, support product costings, manage cost price changes, and ensure accurate forecasting and budget planning.
- Drive NPD and EPD initiatives, optimise service quality, business growth, and customer satisfaction, support sustainability initiatives, and mentor team members.
- Perform any other duties as required.
Requirements
- Strong leadership and team management skills, strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and analytical ability.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, dynamic and resilient personality, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel essential).
- Self-starter with ability to influence and nurture talent.
- Knowledge of agriculture, butchery, and supply chain processes is desirable.
- Understanding of health & safety procedures, risk assessments, hazard identification, and near-miss reporting.
