A highly regarded and well-established food manufacturer based in Greater Manchester is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join their senior leadership team. This is a pivotal role responsible for driving operational performance across the factory and supporting functions, reporting directly to the Operations Controller. This is a predominantly factory-based position, offering the opportunity to influence culture, develop leadership capability, and deliver continuous improvement across the site.
The Role
As Operations Manager, you will take full accountability for factory performance, ensuring the highest standards across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Motivation, and Environment. You will lead a team of departmental managers and play a key role in shaping operational strategy and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Embed and maintain a strong culture of Food Safety and Health & Safety
- Drive operational performance and continuous improvement across production
- Develop leadership capability and improve shift performance
- Take ownership of factory KPIs including Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Engagement
- Act as the senior operational contact for out-of-hours decision-making
- Ensure all production support functions operate efficiently and meet targets
- Lead, motivate, and develop a cross-functional team
Key Duties
- Plan, direct, and monitor production activities to meet business objectives
- Manage production schedules, ensuring optimal use of equipment, materials, and labour
- Analyse performance data to identify trends and drive improvement plans
- Lead recruitment, training, performance management, and employee relations processes
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across people, plant, and processes
- Ensure clear and effective communication throughout the shift structure
- Promote strong colleague engagement across the factory

Essential:
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Experience of continuous improvement methodologies
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels

- Experience within a lean manufacturing environment
