Job Description

Are you a curious and commercially minded analyst looking to broaden your horizons? A leading City-based investment firm is offering an exciting opportunity for an Equity Research Analyst to join its Research division in a multi-sector, cross-functional role.

This is an ideal position for someone early in their research career, or looking to enter research, with strong technical foundations and a hunger to learn across industries, workstreams, and market dynamics. You’ll collaborate with highly regarded analysts, support the production of market-moving research, and play a visible role in shaping client-facing insights.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to Investment Research – Help create timely, well-argued written research, from earnings summaries to in-depth sector reports and long-form thematic pieces.
  • Modelling & Market Intelligence – Take ownership of detailed financial models, monitor KPIs and market trends, and assist with valuation analysis to support stock recommendations.
  • Supporting Client Conversations – Provide thoughtful, data-driven input to client queries, working with Sales and Research teams to deliver responsive, high-quality insights.
  • Corporate Access & Engagement – Attend briefings and management meetings with listed companies, deepening your understanding of corporate strategy and industry challenges.
  • Idea Generation & Internal Collaboration – Help refine sector theses, contribute to investment debates, and support the development of new research angles and commercial ideas.

What You’ll Bring

  • 2–5 years of experience in financial services, ideally with exposure to equity research, accountancy, investment banking, or corporate finance
  • A relevant professional qualification (ACA, CFA, or similar), or strong progress toward one
  • Excellent written communication and the ability to present complex financial ideas clearly and concisely
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, including model-building; familiarity with data platforms such as Bloomberg or FactSet is a plus
  • A sharp analytical mind, high attention to detail, and a natural interest in how companies create value
  • The ability to manage multiple deadlines and remain composed under time pressure
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a genuine interest in public markets

What’s In It For You?

  • Breadth of Experience: Work across different sectors and with a range of analysts, gaining exposure few other roles offer at this level.
  • Career Momentum: Receive training and mentoring with a view toward developing long-term sector expertise and client-facing responsibilities.
  • Team Culture: Join a tight-knit, meritocratic environment where good ideas are encouraged, and your input matters from day one.
  • Visibility & Growth: Contribute to research that reaches institutional investors and supports capital market transactions.
