Role Description

This is a full‑time, on‑site Car Sales Manager role based in London. The Car Sales Manager will lead and motivate the sales team to meet and exceed sales targets for new and used vehicles, finance products, and add‑on services. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include managing the sales process from initial enquiry to handover, ensuring a high‑quality customer experience, and maintaining strong relationships with individual and business customers. The role involves monitoring performance metrics, forecasting sales, implementing sales initiatives, and ensuring compliance with brand standards and regulatory requirements. The Car Sales Manager will collaborate closely with service, finance, and marketing teams to optimise showroom traffic, stock mix, and profitability while modelling professional conduct and a customer‑first mindset.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in automotive sales management, with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales and profitability targets.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, including coaching, performance monitoring, and staff development.
  • Excellent customer service, negotiation, and relationship‑building abilities with a focus on long‑term customer retention.
  • Solid understanding of dealership operations, including new and used car sales, finance and insurance products, and stock management.
  • Commercial and analytical skills, including sales forecasting, KPI tracking, and using CRM systems to manage pipelines.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with confidence in face‑to‑face and telephone interactions.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritise in a fast‑paced retail environment.
  • Familiarity with digital sales tools, online lead management, and basic marketing principles for driving showroom visits and enquiries.
  • Understanding of compliance requirements, including FCA regulations, data protection, and brand standards in the UK automotive sector.
  • Full UK driving licence and the flexibility to work weekends and peak trading hours as required.
  • Relevant experience in franchised dealerships or with Volkswagen Group brands is an advantage.
