As Valve Converter Lead Project Engineer, you will report to the Valve Converter Engineering Leader. The role gives an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer to expand their project management skills and personal development within an international project organisation delivering complex HVDC systems. Whilst based at the HVDC Centre of Excellence in Stafford, there will be some international travel opportunities to collaborate with other GE Teams, participate in customer meetings, support test facilities and site activities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of one or several projects running in parallel.
- Define and maintain the Valve Delivery Project Plan.
- Define and maintain the detailed Valve Project Smartsheet Plan derived from the main Project Delivery P6 plan.
- Define and maintain the Valve Risk Register and escalate high risks to the project team.
- Review planned hours, Cost‑To‑Completion hours vs Budgeted hours.
- Adhere to the GE HVDC operation rhythm.
- Adhere to the Valve Engineering SIPOC and delivery processes.
- Define and maintain the resource plan, request additional resources to valve engineering team leads.
- Accountability on the On‑Time‑Delivery and say‑do ratio KPIs for the project.
- Lead cross‑functional tasks and discussions.
- Lead Non‑Conformities, with an action plan in place and accountability to close them.
- Lead Valve Engineering Gate Reviews and Engineering Design Reviews.
- Raise Change Request when required, following a budget deviation, a change of scope or a change in design.
- Report on a monthly basis to the Head of Valve, the project progress, including achievements, budget status, risks review and resource plan, look ahead.
- Represent Valve during customer meetings and with GE partners.
- Travel abroad to attend customer meetings, witness type testing in presence of customers or consultants.
- Actively share and learn good practices and lessons learnt as continuous improvement for future project execution.
- Adhere to the EHS policies.
